The Last Class

Our last class is over.  We finalized the "Teacher as Artist" show coming up in June at the Youth Art Connection downtown Atlanta.  Much work to be accomplished before then.  Not to mention getting ready for the trip to Washington D.C. next weekend.  With school ending and all the work that entails (grades for over 800 students, cleaning up two classrooms, art awards, promotional activities, teacher of the year celebration, and a retirement party next Saturday...and anything else I forgot) it will certainly be a furious dash of purgatory madness to reach the end of  this school year.  Help!  This ArtsAPS class has been a workout for me, yet very rewarding.  To rub shoulders with my fellow colleagues and refine our teaching craft has proven helpful to unclog the professional mold and stagnation that occurs over the years.  Fresh new ideas and approaches such as VTS, Action Research, Daniel Pink's "Whole New Mind," and Howard Gardner's "Five Minds For The Future" have all proven helpful in renewing my approach to instruction.  Thank you instructors and all those responsible for your time and hard work - Raymond, Cynthia, John, Lisa, and anyone else I forgot.  It's been a elatiously, profound experience. Ha!
