Good Design Makes Good Business - Design For Dollars

I was at Ted's (Ted Montana's Grill) the other day, talking to an employee of Avery, you know, the Avery label company.  If you want to label something with Word 2007 go to Mailings/Envelopes and Labels/Label Tab/Label Options/Label Vendors/Then Find Avery.  Avery was smart to link up with Microsoft.  It has transformed their business from a small mom and pop to quite a large Company.  Avery produces the labels in Peachtree City.  Another product that is produced by Avery are the boxes that Wrigley uses for their Cobalt 5 Gum.  This box, I was told by the employee increased sales by about 30%!  A box and a good design dramatically improving sales.  Wow!  Why would this make people buy more gum?  Great packaging and presentation I guess.  I paid $1.28 for it, which is more than a regular pack of gum.  Here is a superb example of Daniel Pink's point about how design is a much needed commodity in our world.  Those who excel at it and use it will prosper and change lives.  By the way, while at Ted's, get the Blue Creek Bison Burger with mushrooms, mayo, and those wonderful fresh fries.

All The Best!
